Documental A documentary competition for independent US and foreign narrative feature films. Texas Cinema A dramatic, comedic and documentary competition for Texas Films. Contemporary Shorts A competitive program of US and foreign contemporary short films. Non-competing A non-competitive showcase of Texas, US and Foreign contemporary independent film. Eligibility Films MUST have been completed no earlier than January 2000. Running time for all feature length films must be no less than 65 minutes. Running time for all short films must be no more than 40 minutes. Competitive entries must not have commercial distribution anywhere in the US before September 17th, 2001. Foreign feature or short films submitted to the Festival must be subtitled in English. Films produced by a major motion picture studio are not eligible for the Competition program. Entries to be screened in 16mm or 35mm must be made available for presentation at least two weeks before the event date. Films requiring dual projection (interlock) or super 16mm projection cannot be screened at the Festival. BetaSP video projection of your film must be cleared with the organization at least two weeks before event date. Those selected for screening during the Grapevine Film Festival will be notified by August 15, 2001, via telephone. Submissions are only accepted on VHS videotape, NTSC compatible. Entries, as well as accompanying materials, will not be returned and will become property of the organization and its archive. What to Send The following items must accompany all entry forms or will otherwise be returned: 1/2" VHS videotape; (NTSC) Synopsis Complete principal cast/credits list Entry Fee: One official entry form must accompany each individual submission, along with a bank check. $35 for each feature length film $25 for each short film entry. Make all checks payable in US dollars to Grapevine Film Festival. Confirmation that the organization received your submission will be mailed to you 15-20 days after it arrives. If your film is selected the organization will require the following: Completed composite film, to be received by August 20th, 2001 Press kits, including B&W photos and color slides: Posters Additional 1/2" VHS videotape of film: B&W photograph of director 75-word biography of director The Grapevine Film Festival reserves the right to accept or decline any film based on it's own judgment Grapevine Laurel Awards (Grand Jury Prize) are determined by a group of distinguished filmmakers, actors, technicians and critics in the industry. Grapevine Audience Awards will consist of votes taken by the attending audience during these screenings. Other Awards: Special Recognition, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Best Actor/Actress There are no cash awards, but recognition and trophies will be sent to Producer in their absence. The organization may in addition select all winning films to be included in showcase after the awards.
